MISSOULA MAYOR ANDREA DAVIS NAMED A WOMAN OF THE YEAR

Missoula, MT---Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis has been named one of 61 Women of the Year by USA Today. Davis joins Hota Kotb, recently of the Today Show, Olympic rugby medalist Ilona Maher, United Way CEO Angela F. Williams and a host of other influential, committed and talented women who do their best every day to improve the lives of women and everyone else in their communities. Davis is in the second year of her first term as mayor of Missoula, having prevailed in a three-way non-partisan primary, followed by a general election victory, both by significant margins, in the fall of 2023. It is not the first accolade for Davis in her brief tenure as mayor. In December 2023 Davis was selected to attend the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University’s Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days. Davis was selected as one of 27 newly elected mayors in the U.S. to participate in the program.

“I am humbled to be selected as one of USA Today’s 50 Women of 2025,” said Mayor Davis. ”The accomplishments I’m part of are due to working alongside so many dedicated people. This recognition puts wind in my sails to lead Missoula forward as a place where everyone can live and thrive”

Women of the Year is a recognition of women who have made a significant impact in their communities. It is a continuation of Women of the Century which commemorates the 100 th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. Prior to being elected mayor, Davis spent decades as the executive director of Homeword working to develop and promote affordable housing in Missoula and throughout Montana. As Mayor she led the community through a process called “Our Missoula” to adopt a land use plan to envision the community’s future and address the dearth of affordable housing in the burgeoning city.

Davis brings her collaborative nature, an enthusiastic embrace of community and an effervescent energy to her role of mayor and all that it entails. “A guiding principle I strive to uphold is maintaining a growth mindset. Every day, I have the opportunity to learn and stay curious, even as I’m expected to have answers and make decisions,” says Davis. “In all of it, I remind myself to be aware of both my intent and my impact. My mantras: I am enough. I am the eye of the storm. Because through chaos comes order.”

Ruth Reineking, the former board chair of Homeword who hired Davis as executive director of the nonprofit organization, had this to say about Davis’ induction, “Andrea, you totally deserve the recognition and certainly belong in the amazing group identified by USA Today.”
